For kayaking lessons, look for instructors that are highly experienced and certified
with the American Canoe Association, www.acanet.org. This
mean they're up on the latest safety issues. The first place
to look for a pool class is through a local kayak club.
Check your local paddling store for clubs in the area. If
you can't easily find a kayaking club, check at local YMCAs
and YWCAs. Many instructors used the Ys' pools for instruction
and practice.
There are also many good kayaking lessons offered
at kayaking instruction companies.
They typically offer multi-day clinics and are a good
way to get started or work on your techniques. You will
still want to participate in a pool session so you get
regular practice.
